Classroom Design Matters

I had a lightbulb moment the other day.  My desk acted as a barrier to the IWB for my students.  I had staked out that part of the classroom as mine.  That was bad classroom design.

I had a similar lightbulb moment. Actually it was more somebody shining a bright light in my face. During the IT Summit Jamie Mackenzie talked about classrooms with desks in rows (and how that style of classroom is terrible for collaboration and working together). He said that it was great for factory workers.

Well some of my students (who were part of the E-Journalism team) were sitting at my table. They leaned over to me and said "Like your room Mr. Ball."

I now have round tables.
